May 31, 2019 @ 6:00PM — 9:00PM
You're invited to join the NE Shadhiliyya Sufi Community in prayers and breaking fast during the month of Ramadan!
You are warmly invited to join us for an evening of sharing gratitude and prayers in honor of Ramadan with our Muslim brother and sisters. This is a chance to come experience a Sufi healing circle, and learn more about Ramadan. Then after prayers there will be a breaking fast meal (an iftar), potluck style!
All are welcome, whether you are fasting or not. Please note that we will be socializing, learning, and praying until 8:14pm, and then we will share a meal together.
The month of Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims around the world for spiritual healing and renewal, expressing gratitude and remembrance of Allah/God, continuous prayers and recitation of Qur'an. Fasting and giving to charity are major obligations at this time. Fasting is a way to cleanse the body and mind, develop patience and self-control, gain appreciation for God's bounty, learn sympathy for those who do not have food and water, and to protect again spiritual transgressions and negative influences. Breaking fast together is considered a blessing to those who participate.
Hosted by Walker Center and NE Shadhiliyya Sufi Community.
